“My Olympic Event”: Once-Paralyzed College Student Walks at Graduation

Chris Norton fractured part of his spine in his freshman year of college, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down. But after four years of physical therapy, Norton accomplished a seemingly impossible goal: walking across the stage at graduation on Sunday, NBC News reported. "My graduation walk was what I considered my game day or Olympic event," the Luther College graduate told NBC News on Tuesday. "My full focus was to take the best steps I could possibly take and not worry about the audience or anything else." And if anything could have eclipsed that moment for Norton, it was on Saturday, when he proposed to Emily Summers, who helped him cross the stage a day later.
