Two people were taken into custody after leading officers on a chase that reached speeds of up to 100 mph, ending in a wild crash on the 605 Freeway in Norwalk.
The California Highway Patrol arrested a man and a woman after the pair led officers on a chase in a stolen Chevrolet Cruise.
Aerial footage from NewsChopper 4 showed the suspects weaving in and out of traffic at 105 mph and even turning off the car's headlights at times.
The car crashed while attempting to exit at an off-ramp along the 605 Freeway. The vehicle rolled several times before coming to a stop in a cloud of smoke.
The two people inside attempted to run and hide, but they were both taken into custody shortly before 11 p.m.
Authorities say the story began in the parking lot of a Motel 6 in Rowland Heights where a guest had his car stolen after being on the losing end of an altercation with other men.
"Long story short, his keys got stolen, as well as his wallet, and they later came back and retrieved the car," motel employee Brittnie Clark said.
The Cruze was stolen only minutes before the arrival of the tow truck the bloodied owner had called.
Hours later the car was spotted by CHP on the 57 Freeway and the driver refused to pull over. The high-speed chase ended in a rollover crash on the Rosecrans Avenue off-ramp.

The driver was identified as 21-year-old Christian Rios of Compton. Rios is facing charges ranging from DUI and evading to assault with a deadly weapon and grand theft auto.
